March 2025 Meeting Recap


New Hampshire Modern Quilt Guild

March 13, 2025, General Membership Meeting Recap


The February meeting was cancelled due to bad weather.


The meeting was led by Helen.


There were 37 members and two guests in attendance. 


Thank you, Sonia, Carol K, and Laurie K, for attending the door and welcome table.

Thank you to Stephanie and Patty K who brought food and beverages.

Guild Business


Helen made two special announcements:

  1. Happy birthday to Patty M!
  2. Congratulations to Michelle C, who just had her jelly roll quilting book published!


Helen is organizing a March 15th Guild trip to the NEQM. Eight people have signed up.

Treasurer (Marie/Sonia)

  • Sonia filed state and local tax reports for the guild.
  • Membership is at capacity (65), and there are 6 people on the waitlist.

Secretary (Mary Lou) Nothing new to report.

Events and Programming (Laurie K, and Susan H)

  • Susan reviewed the Yard Sale procedures for us to follow.
  • Starting next month, we will have a free table set up. 

Communications (Amanda and Lorri)

  • Amanda and Lorri would like help with various tasks: posting to social media, taking photos, updating our contact list, managing our participating in the local Guild-to-Guild newsletter, and monitoring notable activities and resources from the mother guild. Please see them if you would like to help.

Community Outreach (Carol K, Julie, and Leslie)

  • Carol distributed a handout identifying the organizations to which we will be donating quilts, with the sizes of quilts each of them would prefer. 
  • Carol and Mary Lou worked together to design and print labels for our Comfort Closet quilts. All quilts will have labels.
  • Carol gave two quilts to Families in Transition, and has two more available.

Retreats (Shelly and Ophelia)

  • Our Spring 2025 retreat is coming up soon! It will be held April 3-6 at the Franciscan Guest House in Kennebunkport, ME. To date, 31 people have signed up. This meeting was the last opportunity to sign up.
  • Chelsea generously donated photography equipment to the guild, and Ophelia will bring it to the retreat. If anyone has quilts they would like to photograph, bring them to the retreat.

Hospitality (Mary Ellen)

  • Mary Ellen asked for volunteers to bring food and beverages to the May and June meetings.


SHOW AND TELL

Robin showed us her FPP Dragonfly pillow made from a pattern by Amy Friend    

And some small bags.


A HST quilt she designed.


And a 3-yard quilt by Fabric Café, made with penguin fabric. 



Ophelia showed us three quilts. A Spring Dance quilt by Denise Russell of Pieced Brain.

The Jonah Quilt by Erica Jackson of Kitchen Table Quilting.

Sonia showed us her quilt made with cat fabric.



Amanda showed us a Gaggle of Geese wall hanging.



Mary Ellen has been working on finishing some WIPs. She showed us a large Irish Chain quilt that’s been 8 years in the making.


Maura modeled her Hand Bok Wrap Skirt she made with star patchwork pieces.

She also made two signs she made to mark teacher’s doors at her school.


Susie showed us Little Forest BOM quilt she made.

And a Dream Big panel she quilted.

An Hourglass quilt.


And her Interwoven Quilt from the Stashtastic 2! Book by Doug Leko.


Gail showed us a block study she made in a Carolina Oneto class.


And two blocks from Tara Faughnan’s Block Studies program.



Marie showed us a wall hanging she updated.


And a bag she made that features her own block design.


Patty M showed her Shimmer quilt, from Cluck Cluck Sew.


Sarah showed us her Alpenglow quilt. 

And her Aftershock quilt, by Wren Collective.



Stephanie showed us her Sew Quick quilt, made with Flamingo fabric, a 3-yard quilt by Fabric Café.


Michelle C showed us a bag she designed and made to take to QuiltCon. She reminded us that we can purchase tickets to view individual lectures from QuiltCon, and that we can view all submitted quilts online through the MQG.



Chelsea showed us her Dapper quilt by Camille Roskelley.

And her South Beach quilt, which she hand quilted.


Thank you so much for telling us the names of the quilts and pattern designers for your masterpieces. It makes it easy to compile these Show & Tell notes and serves as a great resource for all of us!

March Meeting and Raffle

The March NHMGQ meeting will be held Thursday March 13th, at 7 PM. Doors open at 6:30 for socializing.

 We will gather at- 
 The First Church
 1 Concord St
 Nashua,NH

This month's programing is the annual Yard Sale. Feel free to bring a friend to shop the sale!
Items of note for the yard sale: 
  • Pricing
    • Books $3
    • Patterns $1
    • Magazines (no older than 2020 please) $1
    • Notions - priced by member
    • 1/2 lb of fabric (round up by 1/2 lb) $1
  • Bring a kitchen scale if you can, label with your name
  • Cash and checks are the accepted forms of payment
    • Please bring small bills as change may be limited

February Meeting and Raffle

 MEETING HAS BEEN CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER!!

 

This month's meeting is scheduled for February 13 at 7:00 pm (doors open at 6:30 for socializing). 

 We will gather at-

      This month's programming will be the Yard Sale, bring your yard sale items and kitchen scales (label with your name)
      There is currently a possibility of snow on Thursday, to ensure the safety of all members we will determine Wednesday around 6 if this meeting will be cancelled. Please watch for an email update
